Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated congratulates Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her confirmation to the United States Supreme Court.

The confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court of the United States is a moment of tremendous pride for the members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Black women everywhere. Her brilliant legal mind, sound judicial temperament, and remarkable work ethic are greatly needed on the nation’s highest court at this critical moment in history.

Judge Jackson is far from the first Black woman who possessed the talent, training, and temperament necessary to serve as a Supreme Court justice. Others who came before her saw their path to this most venerated position blocked because of their race and gender, yet Black women continue to rise through it all. Justice Jackson’s confirmation today honors the careers and sacrifices of legal luminaries such as 1st National President Sadie T.M. Alexander, Constance Baker Motley, Soror Barbara Jordan, Lani Guinier, and Soror Loretta Lynch.

President Joe Biden and the U.S Senate are to be commended for nominating and confirming this gifted jurist. Her elevation makes real the promise of equal justice under law.
