Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Commends President Biden

With gratitude, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly commends President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. for his enduring legacy and exemplary track record as a statesman and public servant for over five decades. He has served with unwavering integrity, conviction, and a steadfast commitment to the people of the United States.

The Biden-Harris Administration’s dedication to creating a more equitable society has led to greater economic opportunities, poverty reduction, healthcare access, historic investments in education, expanded access to affordable housing, and enhanced public safety.

Notably, creating 2.8 million jobs for Black workers has led to the lowest Black unemployment rate on record, while Black wealth has surged by 60%. The Child Tax Credit cut Black childhood poverty by half. The Administration’s record support for Black-owned businesses and over $16 billion in funding for HBCUs created new opportunities for economic empowerment and educational advancement. The appointment of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as the first Black woman on the Supreme Court marks a significant milestone. Under Marcia L. Fudge, Biden-era Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, nearly 94,000 Black homeowners have avoided foreclosure, and nearly five million emergency rental payments have been made to Black families, among other accomplishments. The Sorority looks forward to the Administration’s continued progress in advancing equity and prosperity.

My dear sorors, as I have emphasized over the last several months, each of us must commit to getting out the vote by registering, educating, and mobilizing voters, family, friends, and neighbors to protect and create the future we deserve. Through our individual and collective efforts, we will and must continue deepening and accelerating our impact, as we have for the past 111 years. For Delta, social action is critical, and more than ever, this is our 1913 moment.

Let’s move forward with fortitude.
