INTELLIGENCE IS THE TORCH OF WISDOM
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The organization is a sisterhood of predominantly Black, college educated women. Since its founding more than 300,000 women have joined the organization. Delta Sigma Theta was founded on January 13, 1913
by 22 collegiate women at Howard University. These students wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to those in need. In March of 1913, the Founders of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. performed their first public act. They participated in the Women's Suffrage March in Washington, D.C. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was incorporated in 1930.
Welcome to the national website of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.!
Founded in 1913 by 22 phenomenal trendsetters who saw no limit to their vision for sisterhood, scholarship and service. Delta's Founders stepped out on faith to march with the suffragettes and took a stand for social justice as their first public act. More than 107 years later we pride ourselves by following in the footsteps of our Founders and remain in the forefront of action as a voice for those in need.
With a 2017-2021 quadrennial theme of "joy in our sisterhood, power in our voice and service in our heart," we welcome you to explore our website as we proudly share who we are and the principles for which we stand.
For Delta sorors this website is intended to support your needs as a member by providing basic tools and resources for the business of our sorority.
I hope you enjoy your visit to our online "home" and come again!
Sincerely,
Beverly E. Smith
