Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Launches First-Of-Its-Kind National Voting Campaign Amid Consequential Election Year
WASHINGTON (April 1, 2024) – In a crucial election year with significant races up and down the ballot, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. announces the launch of a nationwide get-out-the-vote campaign featuring television and digital ads that encourage Americans to turn out on election day.
Unveiled on March 12 during the Sorority’s 35th annual legislative conference, Delta Days at the Nation’s Capital, this push calls for every citizen to participate in the democratic process.
“With this campaign, we aim to emphasize the severity of this election and how critical it is that we protect our hard-earned rights, which are currently under threat,” said Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s International President Elsie Cooke-Holmes. “We have a long history of educating and mobilizing the electorate; for decades, we have knocked on doors and empowered communities to get engaged and exercise their voting power. This year, we knew the stakes were high and had to do more than we have always done.”
In partnership with the social impact communications firm Storytelling for Good, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority leveraged storytelling’s power to inspire and mobilize voters.
“The campaign is a rallying cry for collective action, emphasizing the critical role of the vote in shaping the future,” said Kerry-Ann Hamilton, principal at Storytelling for Good. “Our team was honored to partner with the Sorority’s visionary leaders. We know it only takes one person to change the world – imagine what we can do together.”
In addition to launching the get-out-the-vote campaign, Delta Sigma Theta is a co-plaintiff with the Legal Defense Fund in a critical pair of lawsuits challenging restrictive voting legislations – Senate Bill 1 in Texas and Senate Bill 202 in Georgia.
The PSA campaign will air in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery and on digital platforms.
