Policy

Representatives of independent citizen organizations are increasingly active in policy making at the United Nations. These organizations – known at the UN as “non-governmental organizations” or “NGOs” can be effective voices for the concerns of ordinary people in the international arena. As an NGO at the UN the sorority is committed to engaging global policy-making more broadly. Delta’s international focus is on the following areas:  Women & Girls; Social Issues in Africa (including a focus on health); Social Issues in Haiti (including a focus on education)

Beyond the support of our international programs and missions the National Social Action Commission DDUN-UN/NGO subcommittee in partnership with the National Program Planning & Development International Awareness & Involvement subcommittee leads outreach to the International agencies including USAID and the State Department.
