POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Development Associate is responsible for the execution of a comprehensive gift and grants management program. The Associate provides administrative support to the National Strategic Partnership Taskforce (SPTF) and participates in a variety of fundraising activities, including: support the SPTF Chair and Subcommittees, develop giving packages, such as sponsorship, giving campaigns, in-kind support, and other initiatives; engage National Headquarters Legal Affairs Department to develop and execute sponsorship agreements; support National Executive Board Committees, as identified, to execute and implement sponsorship deliverables; manage gift documentation and correspondence; manage volunteer participation; implement and maintain database customization; manage income reconciliation; and plan special events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Provide administrative support to the National Strategic Partnership Taskforce Chair and Subcommittee Chairs; •Engage National Headquarters Legal Affairs Department to ensure proper execution of partnership, sponsorship, and necessary agreements to establish legal and/or appropriate formal relationships with organizations;
•Work closely with the Program Planning and Development Committee and staff to ensure execution of partnership deliverables;
•Recruit and onboard volunteers to work with the National Headquarters Program Planning and Development Department to ensure volunteer opportunities are available and accessible;
•Maintain SPTF schedule, calendar, activities, events, and webinars;
•Maintain and utilize Delta Sigma Theta’s systems to manage donors and process online donations; manage grant agreement records, appreciation and award letters, and develop related materials;
•Process donations, prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence, as necessary;
•Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files;
•Assist in writing grant proposals, applications, letters of intent, and reports;
•Identify prospective donors;
•Assist in producing annual fundraising events and activities;
•Collaborate with the National Headquarters Finance Department to ensure revenue is codified in DeltaSigma Theta’s systems, reconcile donations on a monthly basis, and monitor fund disbursement andfinancial reports; •Maintain grant-related reference resources, including: funder research files, grant application deadlines,grant reporting schedules, and other information, as needed;
•Assist in the establishment of a moves management plan for donors;
•Collect volunteer information, availability, and skills to maintain an up-to-date database;
•Inform volunteers of the mission of Delta Sigma Theta and the Sorority’s engagement opportunities;
•Ensure volunteer compliance with volunteer regulations;
•Adhere to high ethical standards in management, governance, and fund development;
•Convey a professional and positive image regarding the Sorority and the not-for-profit sector;
•Attend meetings, trainings, related business on- or off-site, as needed;
•Demonstrate commitment to continued professional growth and development;
•Advocate, promote, and practice cultural sensitivity and responsiveness;
•Maintain consistent degree of high confidentiality;
•Attend required individual and team supervision sessions and meetings;
•Complete required professional development opportunities;
•Complete other duties as assigned; and
•Annual travel during summer months for National Convention and Regional Conferences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
•Membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated;
•Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Policy, or related field;
•Three (3) to five (5) years of professional experience;
•Experience with corporate, charitable, and individual fundraising;
•Experience with donor prospect research services like Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or a similar tool;
•Experience with unified CRM systems that support fundraising, donor, and grant management like ASIiMIS, Blackbaud, or Network for Good;
•Alignment with mission and culture of the Sorority;
•Demonstrated result orientation with an ability to meet fundraising goals;
•Exemplary interpersonal, public speaking, written, and oral communication skills;
•Excellent attention to detail, ability to organize data, produce reports, and meet deadlines;
•Desire to take initiative and ability to problem solve;
•Strong time-management skills,
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, to include: Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint;
•Relocation assistance not available. Must reside within a 50-mile radius of National Headquarters within six (6) months of start date; and
• Proof of comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination required.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of non-profit experience;
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience with fundraising events and campaigns; and
• Volunteer work experience.
