Once per biennium the Sorority bestows a $200,000 grant to an accredited Historically Black College or University to provide support for a professor of distinction to be in residence at the recipient institution. Since DPEC’s beginning, more than 40 years ago, over $2 million has been awarded to 20 institutions to support work that advances the research agendas of African-American scholars and enhances the quality of life for African-American communities. Delaware State University is the 2021-2023 DPEC recipient.

An invitation to apply for the 2023-2025 DPEC award has been sent to the officers at the accredited HBCUs around the country. Interested professors should reach out to their school administration to discuss applying for this grant opportunity.
