The Distinguished Professor Endowed Chair (DPEC) Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is pleased to announce the 2023-2025 application season!

Once per biennium the Sorority bestows a $200,000 grant to an accredited Historically Black College or University to provide support for a professor of distinction to be in residence at the recipient institution. The grant can be used in part or totally to support or establish an innovative academic program and can be matched with other funds. The institution is the recipient of the Endowed Chair, and the scholar is known as the Distinguished Professor.

Since DPEC’s beginning, more than 40 years ago, over $2 million has been awarded to 20 institutions to support work that advances the research agendas of African-American scholars and enhances the quality of life for African-American communities. Delaware State University is the 2021-2023 DPEC recipient.

An invitation to apply for the 2023-2025 DPEC award has been sent to the officers at the accredited HBCUs around the country. Interested professors should reach out to their school administration to discuss applying for this grant opportunity.

The application deadline is April 1, 2023 at 4:30 pm EST.
