Collegiate Connection Month: How to Stay Engaged, Empowered, and Connected Beyond College

February brings the cherished sentiments of love, commitment, and connection. For Deltas, this month specifically calls for us to focus this love, commitment, and connection not only toward our Sorority but also toward our bold, brave, and beloved collegiate members; sorors, it’s Collegiate Connection Month! Collegiate Connection Month observes the importance of the unique position collegiate members possess in our Sorority and celebrates the leadership, passion, and promise that continues to shine on every campus they inhabit. From running the yard with dynamic and impactful programming to dominating the strolling and stepping scene, collegiate sorors embody the spirit of Delta and our Founders every day. But let’s be real – the work and sisterhood don’t stop at graduation. If anything, that’s just the beginning.

Your Delta Journey Doesn’t End at Graduation—It Evolves

Graduation is a milestone, not a finish line. Delta is a lifetime commitment, and while it may look different in alumnae life, it is still just as fulfilling—if not more. This is the moment when you get to shape your Delta experience to fit your interests, goals, and lifestyle. You’re no longer tied to campus restrictions or academic schedules (because we all know how difficult it is to be a Delta AND maintain a decent GPA and social life). Instead, you get to choose how you want to be involved. Always wanted to be on the Social Action committee but never had time between classes and chapter meetings? Now’s your chance. Didn’t quite master strolling in undergrad? Alumnae chapters are still stepping and strolling, so there is always space to learn. Thinking about stepping into leadership? Alumnae life offers countless opportunities to take on committee roles, chair events, and even serve on the executive board. Whatever your interests are, there’s a place for you.

The Return on Your Investment: Why Staying Engaged Matters It’s easy to think of Delta as something you gave your time, money, and effort to in college, but the truth is, Delta also gives back to you. When you continue to invest in Delta, you get a return that is far greater than what you put in. What do you get in return?

  • Connections that last a lifetime. Your network as a collegiate soror is already strong, but once you transition into alumnae life, you unlock a whole new level of sisterhood that spans industries, interests, and generations.
  • A built-in support system. Wherever life takes you, a Delta is always near. Whether you move to a new city for work, grad school, or just a fresh start, there’s a chapter waiting to welcome you. Many sorors use their alumnae chapters to find housing, job opportunities, and trusted community resources when relocating.
  • Continued growth and development. Delta is dedicated to lifelong learning. Nationally, regionally, and locally, you’ll find programs designed to help you elevate your career, financial literacy, health, and leadership skills—and you don’t even have to leave your house. With virtual series like Wellness Wednesdays and other national committee and subcommittee webinars, Delta can be used for your enrichment right from your home, car, or anywhere else!
  • The ability to mold and shape your Delta experience on your terms. Unlike college, where most of your Delta life revolves around chapter business, alumnae life allows you to customize your engagement. Whether you want to serve on a committee, focus on social action, mentor collegiate sorors, or simply attend events—your Delta journey is now truly in your hands.

No Matter Where You Go, A Delta is Always Near!

Graduating means change—sometimes big change. You might be moving across the country—or even across the world. Maybe you’re headed to a new city for a dream job, law school, or a fresh start. Whatever the case may be, you never have to navigate it alone. Delta is a built-in community that follows you wherever you go. You’ll always be able to find a sprinkle of crimson and cream wherever life may take you. One of the best ways to stay engaged after graduation is by finding an alumnae chapter in your new area. These chapters provide a familiar and trusted network in unfamiliar places. Many sorors use their alumnae chapters to get acclimated to a new city, meet people they can trust, and get plugged into local professional networks. If you don’t know where to start, check out the chapter locator to find a chapter in your service area. Whether you’re looking for a large, active chapter or a smaller, tight-knit one, there’s a home for you in Delta.

There Are So Many Ways to Stay Engaged—You Just Have to Choose One!

One of the biggest myths about alumnae life is that it’s just meetings and business.” But the truth is, there are so many ways to stay engaged, and the best part is you get to choose what works best for you!

  • Get involved with your region. Each region hosts events, clusters, and offers leadership opportunities designed to keep you connected and growing within the Sorority.
  • Attend major Delta events. Founders Day celebrations, Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital (DDNC), and the Collegiate Summit are amazing ways to stay active and meet sorors from across the country.
  • Join a committee in your alumnae chapter. Whether your passion is fundraising, social action, programming, or membership services, there’s a place for you to put your skills to use.
  • Engage with national programming. Webinars, webinars, webinars!! The pandemic taught us that engagement doesn’t cease when there’s distance between us!

So, what’s the key to all of this? Delta is always willing to meet you where you are—but you have to be willing to meet Delta there too. As you celebrate Collegiate Connection Month, take a moment to reflect on what being a Delta means to you. The bonds, the work, the mission—it doesn’t stop at graduation. It evolves. Your Delta journey is yours to shape, and however you decide to engage, you will have a place in this sisterhood for a lifetime! That’s a mighty long time, so use it to your advantage, sorors!

Whether you’re graduating this year or a few years down the line, start thinking about your next chapter. Stay connected, stay engaged, and most importantly, stay active. Delta’s legacy is built by those who show up, pour in, and carry the torch forward. Make sure you’re following @dstinc1913 on Instagram, checking your email for updates, and making room for Delta in your plans for the future, as we know they are bright. Soror, this journey is just getting started. Lock in with Delta; it’ll be here the whole way through.

Happy Collegiate Connection Month!
