53rd National Convention C O V E R A G E Grammy Award Winner Babyface Headlines the Delta Extravaganza Las Vegas is known for bright lights and great entertainment. So, it was only fitting that megawatt singer-songwriter producer, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, was the headliner during the final event of the 53rd National Convention – the Delta Extravaganza. The Walton Family Foundation sponsored the festivities. Babyface, an 11-time Grammy Award winner, delivered an unforgettable performance that included his greatest hits and stories from the celebrity’s past. At one point during the show, s48 DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. he left the stage to give the audience a close-up view. “I liked his connection with the audience,” said Soror Sierra Braddy, a member of Zeta Gamma Chapter at Youngstown State University in Ohio. “Initially, everyone was sitting down and they were like, ‘Oh, I love Babyface, but I’m going to sit in my seat.’ And then, as he came down, they were like, ‘Oh, yeah! He’s right here in front of me.’ And, I loved that. He really knows how to get the audience up.” As Babyface worked the crowd into a bit of a frenzy, he made his way to National Treasurer Deborah Jones- Buggs, whom he embraced and serenaded. Soror Jones-Buggs pretended to faint as the singer walked away. Babyface said he began writing songs and singing “to impress girls.” Based on the audience’s response, he hinted that’s no longer a problem.
