Joliet Area South Suburban Alumnae Chapter step team won the Sorors’ Choice Award and placed third in the Convention’s step show competition with the theme, “Beast Mode.” s22 DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY, INC. Taryn Frazier, Pi Chapter, shared, “This is my first convention step show. PHOTO BY SHARON FARMER hard they practiced, and I am just really impressed.” It was also the first time that D’Asia Wideman, Kappa Gamma Chapter member, attended a National Convention step show. “The fun atmosphere surprised me,” she said. “I loved everything about the step show tonight. I especially enjoyed seeing the executive officers stroll.” As step show host Quiona “Q” Stephens-Russel, Ph.D. acknowledged the comradery, love and support of the Sorority. “We work hard and deserve to play hard,” said Stephens-Russell. She expressed admiration for each of the judges, which included representatives of the Divine Nine and celebrity judge and WNBA player, Candice Wiggins. Quiona is a member of the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter and has performed with her chapter’s award-winning step team. s
